Julie Piggott has made music a big part of her life since starting to play the violin at the age of 8. In 2018 she performed in Vienna and Bratislava with the Ulster Youth Orchestra as part of its 25th anniversary European tour. She appears frequently in the New Irish Arts Orchestra and has also performed with its Youth Orchestra both as a soloist and leader. In 2019 she was invited to play in performances of Haydn’s ‘The Creation’ and Handel’s ‘Messiah’ in Armagh Cathedral. Julie was successful in gaining a place with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, giving performances of Shostakovich Symphony No.11 and Britten’s Sinfonia da Requiem in venues around the UK including the Barbican Centre in London. Last year, she was appointed to be leader of the South Ulster Youth Orchestra and Principal 2nd Violin of the Ulster Youth Orchestra. Julie is currently studying with Nicholas Rippon in Belfast.
