2015 Cathryn Lynch, Percussion from Sullivan Upper School

Cathryn won the 2015 competition playing a 4 mallet marimba piece by Emmanuel Sejourne. She also played a multiple percussion piece, Collinear Dancer, in the final.

Cathryn attends Sullivan Upper School in Holywood, Co. Down. She is involved in her school choir, band and orchestra. Cathryn  is a member of the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra, Downshire Brass and the Ulster Youth Orchestra.

Winning this competition gave Cathryn the opportunites to play in the UK final, play in the Waterfront Hall for the Rotary UK and Ireland Conference and play on Radio Ulster John Toal show several times. She also, with the subsequent 2016 joint-winner Tom Myles, gave a truly excellent recital in Andrews Memorial Hall, Comber to a large, and knowledgeable audience.

Cathryn has her ABRSM diploma in percussion performance and is currently sitting her gcses. After school Cathryn wants to attend a music conservatoire in the UK to study percussion.
